Anna Leigh Ashford

Annaleigh Amanda Ashford has been an American actress, dancer and singer since the early 1990s. Her early Broadway performances include Wicked Legally Blonde & Hair. Her performance as Essie Carmahiel in You Can't Take It With You as Essie Carmahiel earned her the Tony Award in Best Featured Female Actor in the Play. Tony Award-winning actor Annaleigh Ashford is a veteran of her career working alongside renowned directors and actors across theatre and on television. she will continue that collaboration with a variety of upcoming projects. Ashford's next project will be a limited-edition Hulu series called Welcome to Chippendales, created by Robert Siegel. The show will premiere on the 22nd of November and Ashford stars opposite Kumail Najiani. Ashford is currently engaged in the production of Searchlight Pictures' horror film Dust which stars Sarah Paulson alongside Ebon and Moss Bachrach. It's also available as an Hulu Original on Disney DTC. Ashford's Broadway return will take place in the month of March 2023, when he plays alongside Josh Groban for the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sweeney Todd. Thomas Kail (director) and Jeffrey Seller (producer), the same team who created Hamilton, will direct the production. Ashford most recently starred Paula Jones in the new Ryan Murphy FX series American Crime Story Impeachment based on the crisis in America that picked up Paula Jones Monica Lewinsky and Linda Tripp as principal characters for the first impeachment hearings in over a century. Ashford was a part of two seasons of popular CBS comedy B Positive. The show was developed by Marco Pennette Chuck Lorre with the legendary Linda Lavin Hector Elizondo Ben Vereen. Ashford, who is not unfamiliar with Broadway was awarded both Tony Drama Desk Awards as along with Outer Critics Circle Awards in the role in the role of Essie. Other Broadway performances for Ashford includes Sunday in the Park, with George Wicked legally Blonde, as well as the role of Lauren as Lauren in Kinky Boots. For this performance, she was awarded a Tony Award nomination. Ashford is from the city of Denver native who now divides her time between Los Angeles.
